CAMPION

Raised equally between London and a rural upbringing in Suffolk, England, Alex Campion found the ingredients necessary to construct the music he writes and performs in his solo project, CAMPION. A lonely boarding school education meant he had to forge an inner world where his thoughts and feelings could freely flourish, and that fertile combination of outward struggle and inner sanctuary is precisely what makes CAMPION stand out from the crowd: each song is its own individual world.
CAMPION has opened for Seattle mainstays such as Sisters, Maiah Manser and The Grizzled Mighty, and was featured among the line-up for Paul Allen's inaugural Upstream Festival, Seattle in 2017.
CAMPION's new EP, Four Songs About Love, is the culmination of a whole year's work from Alex, who wrote, recorded, produced and engineered the tracks himself. The lead single, Lovesick Dream, is an anthemic ballad on the subject of self-love. Alex wrote it following an epiphanic experience listening to music having micro-dosed LSD for the first time, in an effort to treat his clinic depression. Also featured on the EP is a cover of "We Found Love" by Rihanna and Calvin Harris: reimagined as a sultry, low-slung, high concept lullaby that wouldn't sound out of place on an Björk or Massive Attack record, it hits highs of unbridled euphoria and lows of abject despair. "Death Or Glory", is a tense, Blade Runner-esque thriller on the subject of doomed love; the fourth, "Rosie", is a disturbed lullaby about freshly lobotomised Kennedy sister, Rosemary. The record was mastered by Jason Goz at Transition Studios, London.
